Criminal Background Checks - Buyer Beware!
Criminal histories are a serious part of any thorough
background check. The client is counting on the
investigator's report to protect them from potential
fraud or physical harm. However, to do an honest,
complete report, the costs can be in the hundreds of
dollars because a single database containing all criminal
histories does not exist in the U.S. A thorough
search must cover all of the states, Federal District
Courts and the individual counties and cities where the subject has
lived.
So, if you are seeking a criminal history on someone but
would rather not spend hundreds of dollars, you can do
some of it yourself right here by checking the Departments of Corrections
that have searchable online databases (listed below).
However, if someone is
convicted of a felony and sentenced to probation, you
may not be able to locate that information through a
DOC. |
